Released in 2020, the Apple Watch SE is a more modern take on 2018’s Apple Watch Series 4, with a nearly identical aesthetic design but with several performance and feature differences that provide added value to the end customer.

The SE is everything you can expect from an Apple Watch: it has the same curved edges, a rounded chassis, and a Digital Crown on the side of the watch. So, design-wise, there is nothing new here.
However, things most certainly aren’t the same on the inside of the Watch. While the Apple Watch Series 4 ran on Apple’s S4 chipset, the original 2020 version of the Apple Watch SE runs on the S5 chipset, and the newer 2022 model uses the S8 chipset found in the Apple Watch Series 7.

The display is also rather familiar in terms of sharpness and resolution, with 1.78” screens on 44mm models and smaller 1.53” screens on 40mm models, all featuring 326 ppi (pixels-per-inch). The display is crisp and clear, with a single drawback — no Always-On feature.
